Um, this is terrible, but why did someone go to the trouble to mock this up into a cute little rainbow design?
Fully agreed about the design choice.
Don’t know which is more horrible: that lesbianism can be “cured” by rape, or that AIDS can be cured by raping a virgin. Which is also something that some South Africans believe.
It caught your attention right? Do you think I’m doing this to support rape? It’s awareness. If I can catch your attention in an a way you wouldn’t expect, you’re more likely to retain the message behind it.
These people truly believe that lesbians need to be taught a lesson and they feel that raping them can really change their orientation. Watch the video interviews.
The design is to mock their feelings towards rape, on how it’s completely fine if used to ‘correct’ someone. They even do it in groups. The design is catching people’s attention, and they’re reposting it. More people are aware of the disgusting things that LGBT people—and women—have to go through.
You ask “Why did someone go to the trouble to mock this up into a cute little rainbow design?” Like I said, I did it for awareness.
I’m getting my message out, aren’t I?
