iTunes bank account fraud transactions

Warning for iTunes users: Check your bank accounts now for fraud transactions.

I just got defrauded. Fortunately, I caught the test transactions before they went through.

From my experience, here’s what may happen:

You’ll get two $1 transactions in your bank account labeled “CHECKCARD [date] APL*ITUNES 866-712-7753 CA”
I just realized I HAVE NOT been receiving email receipts for the past month or so.
The transactions WILL NOT show in your iTunes account history.
I’m assuming this is related: As of the past few days, when I downloaded a free app on my iPhone, it asked me to verify my billing information. I verified it, and every time I downloaded a new app, it asked me to verify again. I’ve never been asked to verify this information before. Since this happened in the iPhone App Store (rather than while an app was open), I don’t think this was what caused the fraud. Perhaps this was some security measure in response to the fraud transactions.

The two $1 transactions are test transactions to test the validity of the account before hitting your account with larger charges.

Here’s what to do:

Call your bank’s fraud department ASAP (obviously).
Contact Apple via this form. Apple doesn’t handle fraud over the phone apparently.
Remove your credit card or PayPal information from iTunes.
Change your iTunes password.
I’m not sure why I’m not receiving email receipts, but I just tried this to reset my email.

Argentina has just become the first Latin American country to legalize gay marriage. The Senate passed a bill on Thursday morning after a lengthy debate, according to the Telam news agency, reports CNN.

The bill, which was endorsed by the President Cristina Kirchner, not only legalizes gay marriage, but also allows the couples to adopt.

The upper house voted 33-27 for the proposal after 14 hours of debate, according to Reuters. The bill had already passed the lower chamber of Congress.

The New York Times reports that 70% of Argentinians support marriage equality.

Recently, Argentina’s highest-ranking Catholic prelate called the gay marriage bill a “machination” of the devil.

Gay marriage became legal in Mexico City in March earlier this year.

In a step forward for marriage equality, a United States judge in Boston ruled—in two separate cases—that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional.

According to AP, in one case, Joseph Tauro, Massachusetts district judge, ruled that Congress violated the constitution when it passed DOMA, as it interferes with the state’s right to define marriage.

He said that the act forces Massachusetts to discriminate against its citizens.

“In the wake of DOMA, it is only sexual orientation that differentiates a married couple entitled to federal marriage-based benefits from one not so entitled, and this court can conceive of no way in which such a difference might be relevant to the provision of the benefits at issue.”

In another case filed by Gays & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, Tauro ruled that DOMA violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Breaking: Three shot outside gay nightclub in San Francisco

Four people were injured during the gay pride weekend in The Castro District of San Francisco, California, according to a report by California Beat.

The shooting occurred sometime after 11:30pm during Pink Saturday, a street party held the night before San Francisco Pride. FOX40 reports that the shooting was at a gay nightclub called “The Cafe” at the intersection of Market and Castro Streets.

The conditions of the people who were injured are unknown at this time.

According to @GAinSF, the photo above shows a Muni Metro station at the Market and Castro intersection. The photographer reports that all roads closed and the riot police have been called in.

Ugandan pastor Martin Ssempa explains “what homosexuals do in the privacy of their bedroom,” in an attempt to gain support for Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

He describes some sexual practices such as anal–oral sex, anal fisting, eating feces and having sex with feces. He asks children to be removed from the room and then shows some explicit photos to the group.

“As Africans, we want to ask Barack Obama to explain to us, is this what he wants to bring to Africa, as a human right to eat the poo poo?”

The pastor appears to be trying to persuade people that all homosexuals engage in these types of activities.
